In Bed With Emma Brooks

Do you have a consistent bedtime routine? If so, walk us through it.
I used to work on the computer right up until I climbed into bed. Now, I have to give myself at least an hour to wind down or I’ll stare at the ceiling for hours. I also like to make a small pot of sleepy time tea that I share with my husband.
What’s your bedtime?
10-11pm. My goal is to get 9 hours every night. That’s my magic number.
What’s the one thing you can’t sleep without?
A fan. The noise and the cool breeze = perfection.
What do you do if you can’t sleep?
Where do you keep your phone while you sleep?
We have a low platform frame. I keep it right next to me, on the frame so it’s easy to access when the alarm goes off. duh. When I was younger, I had a lofted bed. I would keep my alarm on my desk so I’d have to climb down the ladder to turn it off. At that point, I was awake and on my feet. I really need something like that back in my life, haha… I snooze. Way. Too. Much.
What’s the weirdest thing you do in bed?
Oh man, I don’t know if I have anything… Can it be my favorite thing to do in bed? On the weekends, my husband and I sleep in and talk about whatever is on our minds. It’s one of my favorite parts of the week.
Left, right, or middle?
How many alarms do you set before going to bed?
Just one. I’m a freelancer so it’s not the end of the world if I let myself sleep a little more or less. I try to listen to what my body needs each morning.
