Between Two Foams: How Much Support Do I Need?

Jun 07, 2016 | by Adam Tishman

The most important characteristic for all mattress shoppers is the level of support a specific model provides.

Support is determined by how far and evenly your body sinks into the mattress. Too light of support will cause you to sink into the mattress, curving your spine in an unnatural way. Too strong of support will cause you to “sit on top” of the mattress, which does not accommodate your spine curvature.

Keep In Mind: The goal of finding the proper support level is to maintain and promote the back’s natural curvature while you sleep through the night.

Think of it this way: An individual who weights 250 lbs and an individual who weights 110 lbs are going to need different support levels.
